Federal Government Shutdown

Programs overseen by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance – including Public Assistance and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – are not immediately affected by the federal government shutdown and are continuing to operate. Benefits will continue to be provided, and use of benefit cards are not impacted by the shutdown. Additionally, applications for these programs overseen by OTDA will continue to be accepted at this time. This message will be updated if additional information becomes available.

Bridge 2006-2007

Appropriation Level: $9,553,000

The Bridge Program, which operates in conjunction with the State University of New York’s (SUNY) University Center for Academic and Workforce Development, provides 31 local social services districts with employment preparation services specifically designed to provide Family Assistance and other TANF eligible families with the skills and supports necessary to obtain employment. Bridge programs are located at SUNY’s 10 Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs), seven community colleges, a State University College, a One-Stop Center, a community-based organization and the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club. Activities include job readiness/job search activities, academic services, and short-term skills training.
