Federal Government Shutdown

Programs overseen by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance – including Public Assistance and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – are not immediately affected by the federal government shutdown and are continuing to operate. Benefits will continue to be provided, and use of benefit cards are not impacted by the shutdown. Additionally, applications for these programs overseen by OTDA will continue to be accepted at this time. This message will be updated if additional information becomes available.

Build NY 2008-2009

Appropriation Level: $750,000

The Employment Skills Long Island Program [ESLI] is led by the Building and Construction Trades Council of Nassau and Suffolk Counties and is designed to provide the highest quality self sufficiency preparation, support and training services to TANF eligible individuals to prepare for and gain employment in one of several high growth industries available on Long Island, including those within the skilled building and construction trades. The program will operate for a one year period and partner with regional service providers and training institutions to ensure the program goals are achieved.
