Federal Government Shutdown

Programs overseen by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance – including Public Assistance and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – are not immediately affected by the federal government shutdown and are continuing to operate. Benefits will continue to be provided, and use of benefit cards are not impacted by the shutdown. Additionally, applications for these programs overseen by OTDA will continue to be accepted at this time. This message will be updated if additional information becomes available.

Bridge 2013-2014

Appropriation Level: $102,000

The Bridge Program offers Microsoft certifications designed to provide Family Assistance (FA) recipients and other TANF eligible individuals with the skills necessary to obtain employment. Available certification through the Bridge program includes the following:

  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS): a certification program that enables participants to obtain Information Technology (IT) skills in Microsoft Office application software. The MOS certification features Web-based pretests, and program-specific certification exams that are a benefit to underserved populations in economically challenged communities.
  • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA): a certification program offering advanced level IT training to eligible participants. MTA validates the fundamental technology knowledge that individuals need to start building a career in Microsoft technologies. Certifications include: Software Development, Web Development, Windows Development, Windows Server Administration, Networking, Database Administration and Security Administration.
