Federal Government Shutdown

On November 6, 2025, a U.S. District Court ordered the federal government to issue full November SNAP benefit payments to eligible households. New York has begun issuing full SNAP benefits to all eligible households. Some New Yorkers could have access to their benefits as soon as Sunday, November 9, and all are expected to receive their full benefits by the end of the week. November 20, 2023, 11:00 a.m.: Child Poverty Reduction Advisory Council (CPRAC) Meeting

The sixth meeting of New York State's Child Poverty Reduction Advisory Council took place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, via Zoom.

Summary: The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), in partnership with the Governor's Office of the State of New York, is convening the Child Poverty Reduction Advisory Council (CPRAC), pursuant to the Child Poverty Reduction Act, signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul. The Council's responsibilities include:

  • providing analyses of child poverty in New York
  • making policy recommendations for reducing child poverty by 50 percent over ten years
  • measuring and reporting on progress towards that goal

The Council includes a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from across government, advocacy organizations, not-for-profits that focus on poverty issues, individuals directly impacted by poverty, Regional Economic Development Councils, and more.

The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance will provide a webcast of this meeting in real time on November 20, 2023.
